The National Song Revisited
February 6th 2007 09:30
Ex Amanda Vanstone recently penned a new national song for Australia. Unfortunately with the climate crisis we are facing it probably won't get a chance to become part of our folklore. Here is an alternative, more contemporary version for the immediate future:
Under Southern Stars - With Apologies to Amanda Vanstone
Home to Wogs and Abos,
An irony in itself,
Shining light for Freedom,
As the rest of us burn in hell.
Nation made of many,
Bound in hope as one,
Building a shelter for the future,
For the scorching Southern Sun.
This is the burning question,
Please excuse the pun,
The beach, our greatest virtue,
No longer a place of fun?
Valiant into Battle,
Courage to the end,
As we all line up at Woollies
For the latest Sun-block blend.
Nature's earthly heaven,
Will fuck up both our eyes,
Not to mention fires,
Which will light up Southern Skies.
Shining light for Freedom,
While the rest of us burn in hell.
