HA! Guide To The Footy Off-Season - Part 1
November 14th 2006 03:10
For the more discerning footy fans amongst us, the off-season can be a time of bleak loneliness and extreme frustration. Many are seen roaming the empty stands of once full stadiums and regenerating training grounds clinging on to the pieces of shattered dreams and deflated hopes.
We recognise that every fan has a unique way of handling a the emptiness nd we would love to hear about yours however here are a few suggestions from the team at HA! for you to try...
• Wash your good-luck underwear, which you start wearing on the opening day of the season and invariably extended to wearing throughout the entire season. As far as we know, washing the garment will not remove any supernatural powers it may posses but it will have you smelling a whole lot better.
• With the aid of your favourite game console, re-enact that crucial moment when your team’s season was read the last rights. Only this time, you can make sure that the refs get it right and your team achieves the result it deserved.
• Take a break from your fantasy league and take your entire fantasy team on a fantasy end of season trip. If you’ve been playing the game all year then perhaps you should also consider taking a fantasy date as it’s highly likely a real one ain’t happening.
• If fantasy football doesn’t quite do it for you and you prefer the odd wager during the season to ‘keep things interesting’, then now is the time to get that second job and keep your creditors interested in your patronage rather than your kneecaps.
Make sure you catch up with Part 2 for more tips on handling the boredom.
